Bugabees & Bugybops Books and Interactive Materials.
The idea for the BugaBees came from one mother's need to educate her young daughter about food allergies. Inspired by the millions of other families also seeking ways to learn and cope with this condition, BugaBee characters were created to help children remain healthy and happy in spite of a food allergy diagnosis.
It is estimated that close to 6 million American children suffer from food allergies. In the most severe cases, food allergies can cause dangerous reactions where the release of histamine and other chemicals may cause swelling, difficulty breathing, heart failure, circulatory collapse, and even death.
With colorful imagery and cute characters kids can relate to, the BugaBees offer an optimistic approach to managing food allergies by focusing on all the things they can - as opposed to can't - have.
While a child could be allergic to any food, there are eight common allergens that account for 90 percent of all reactions in children.
